Friday's thoughts...

- my brain has checked out of work but I have 3+ more hours to go... how to hang on??

- I have mixed feelings about the warm weather. I wanted it to get here but forgot we have no ac at home.

- For some reason I get good sized headaches every day at 3pm. My Dr and I are working on a solution, but it's no fun.

- I was also "unofficially" diagnosed with hypoglycemia. That means my system doesn't know how to process sugar and other stuff very well. It means I get weird when I don't eat or eat lots of something with sugar. So pretty much I spend a good portion of my day trying to regulate my food in take and make sure it's the right thing. It's annoying. My appointment with the dietician is not until early next month. So those of you who have noticed how much I'm thinking about my next meal, that's why ;)

- One thing that happens when my hunger issues show up is that I get insecure. Which I think is a very odd symptom, but some how when my system gets messed up like that it's one of the things that comes out. Who would have thought our emotions were tied so closely to what our bodies are doing?!

- Speaking of what our bodies are doing, my running partner and I decided we ARE going to run the Portland Marathon. That's easier said than done, but I came up with a tentative plan for us and hope we can finish well. It's the last year we'll be doing these distance runs, at least for now. We need a break.

- I had lunch and hung out with Jenni the other day. I liked that.

- I'm normally more relaxed about how we spend our money but since we are using like every penny we can scrounge up for our down payment at closing on the new place July 31st, I've been a bit nervous about the potential for going over budget.

We are camping next weekend..

Next weekend Mark and I are going camping. Half the trip will be with some good friends and half the trip will be on our own.

It's only 4 nights and neither of us have been seriously camping in a LOOONNNNGGGG time!! But we knew we would want to go together when we were married so registered at REI for our wedding and then loaded up on necessary supplies using gift cards afterwards.

Here's my question, what are some good camping meals, tricks of the trade, or items you think are absolutely necessary when you camp?

Yesterday. Life happened.

Right after work Mark and I went to look at a table I found on craigslist. Our new place has a little kitchen nook and our current table is too large for that space. So we thought it would be fun to get a little bistro table.

We really liked it!! Here's the pic (there is one more chair, just not in this picture):

Amazingly we got the table and chairs into the back seat of the car. We just had to put the top down. Everything was ready to go and we went to start the car and it wouldn't start. We tried jumping it and that didn't work. After calls with both our fathers, checking to see if the people who's driveway we were stuck in had any tools (they didn't have what we needed), we called a tow truck.

The tow guy was nice.

We took the car to the place I normally have it serviced, a dealership. I know, some people are convinced that's the worst place you can take it, but I like how they know what to do to it and when. The place is also open until midnight.

We rode in the tow truck and met Barb at the dealership. It was around 8:30pm, we stopped for "comfort" food of Baja Fresh and TCBY on the way back to Barb's. By 10:30 we got the call that the car was fixed and only needed new battery cables. By 7:30am we had picked it up and drove in to work.

Given our current endeavor to buy a house we were both VERY grateful that it wasn't worse or more expensive. Although we could have figured out a way to go without a car for a few days anything more then that would have been frustrating. And thank God for budgeting as we had enough set aside in our "car repair" fund to cover the work!! Not the towing, but out of 2 isn't bad ;)

a few things

The weekend flew by!! We weren't overly busy though, which was nice. I had some good resting time.

In the rush of the rest of our life I forgot to mention that I ran the Helvetia Half Marathon on Saturday morning with Trisha (my running partner). We did a time of 2:30. It wasn't our best, but not our worst and we felt pretty good during most of it. It felt like the most low-key race we've done. It's kind of sad when running 13.1 miles is no longer a big deal!! Although nice when you can go into the race without the huge fear of whether or not you can finish. It's more a feeling of how you might finish.

We are a little up in the air about doing the Portland Marathon in October. My mom had to back out because of some other obligations. My uncle and cousin are still planning to run it but now Trisha's and my lack of motivation makes us want to back out as well. However, the understanding that we won't be doing these races again next year and the desire to have a good solid finish for this distance running season of our lives sort of makes us want to continue. We probably aren't doing another long run together for a couple more weeks so we'll see how we're feeling.

The CNN interview was canceled because of Tim Russert's death. However, they are going to be on a Moody radio program today. It's at 2pm Central time but I think from that link you can access it any time. I guess Christina is pretty nervous.

I'm feeling slightly off at work today because I moved offices on Friday. Being Monday and thrown off by the new space makes it hard to figure out where to start. Hopefully lunch with my wonderful husband will help me out a little ;)

Sunday on CNN

CNN picked up the People magazine article about my dad and sister and plan to include them on Sunday for father's day. They'll do the interview on Saturday but air it on Sunday. Not sure when, but keep an eye out!!

Mark & Carrie's great house-hunting adventure

Our offer was accepted today and we're SOO excited!! At least I am and Mark seemed to be when I called him at work a little while ago to tell him ;)

Here's how it played out (minus the hours of phone calls):
Sunday we went for a walk in our neighborhood and found a place we liked.
Monday we hit the bank for pre-approval and called on the place to find out it had been sold :(
Monday night we looked at 5 different places.
Tuesday I looked at 5 more places in a slightly wider area. (We decided I would go with the realtor without Mark to narrow down the options. I found the hunt pretty fun!)
Wednesday we widened our area of interest.
Friday I went out and walked through 10-13 more places.
Friday night I narrowed it all down to 5.
Saturday we went out together and narrowed it down to 3, then 2, then 1.
Sunday we made an offer.
Monday we found out we had ONE option for obtaining financing (because of the type of place we are bying and the little $$ we have down). Hmm... so much for friend/family connections!!
Tuesday our offer was accepted.
If all goes well, July 31 we close!!

It happened FAST!! Our heads are still spinning!! We are thankful for our wonderful families who gave us terrific advice and support as we went/go through the steps.

So if you wonder why suddenly we are no longer accepting hangout invitations, it's because we have no $$ to spare ;)

People Magazine Tomorrow

Don't forget about tomorrow's People mag!! The article about Christina will be in there. Apparently there is even an extra picture in the table of contents. How fun!! I'm going to head out first thing in the morning ;)
